FUN NEW EXCITING THINGS, AND YET OH SO OLD . . .

It's time to have sooo much fun!!!
It's time to make dreams come true!!!
It's time to play dress ups!!!

When my girls were wee littles, we would frequently have tea parties.
As they grew, we continued to have tea parties with more and more frills and dress-up fancies.

I need to go on a little tangent here.  Back in the late 1990's, I discovered Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice for the first time.  No, I did not read the book, I had 5 children at home and I didn't make time for reading (oops, another tangent!).  I watched this old black and white movie (1940's) on TV and loved it.

I didn't even know what the name of it was. When I found the name "Pride and Prejudice" I searched for more and discovered the 1995, 6-hour miniseries with the handsome Colin Firth version and watched it. I became a fan!

THEN (drum roll),  the 2005 Keira Knightley version came out and not only did I absolutely love it but my daughters loved it too.  My youngest daughter has watched the movie so many times she has the whole movie memorized.

We became obsessed with the Regency Era of Jane Austen and watched more movies based on her novels.

Over the last 10 years we have been gathering satin gloves, fans, parasols, and bonnets. I have also collected an assortment of tea party dishes (nothin' crazy, just a few).

This year I brought it to a whole new level.  Starting in June I've been working on a new project. From age 9, I have been sewing and designing cloths. So, in June, I decided to combine my dream of the romantic life of Jane Austen with my practical sewing skills.

Here are some of the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today, as I look outside it is cold and rainy, just like any countryside in England.  Needless to say, we will be taking our herbal tea and crumpets in the drawing room, next to a warm fire.  Where are my servants, the fire needs to be stoked (actually, I'm the one who's stoked.  I'm so excited to go back 200 years to the genteel times of 1815 at Pemberly).
I have more empire waist dresses I plan to sew, more bonnets to make, little purses (or I found out they are called "reticules") to crochet, etc.  The fun has just begun!!!

Spring! Spring! Spring!

Springtime!

The time for new things. . .

I'm beginning to wonder if I might have Attention Deficit Disorder.  I go from one project to the next and always seem to be trying something new.  And with Springtime here there are SOOOO many projects I want to start -- it's ridiculous!  I will tell you one thing, Pinterest is certainly not helping this disorder!!!!!

This week I've been playing with Play Doh and making Easter related things . . .
